-You don’t have to deal with people. If you are an introvert, it is amazing! It can also get lonely for the same reasons. I still interact with clients, but I love the clients I serve. I just enjoy having a lot more alone time to work by myself.
-You can work with peace and quiet. If you live alone, that is. I am still single and don’t have roommates so I enjoy my quiet when I get things done.
-You can be your own boss. Thankfully, I have never had any bad bosses in the past jobs I’ve worked, but I love being able to do what I want. I get to choose my schedule, time off, and when to take breaks as needed.
-There is flexibility. I get to choose how many weddings I want to book in a year, who I want to work with, and vacation.
-I wear sweatpants to work. This is only when I’m doing work from my laptop. If I’m photographing a wedding, I will wear black, and will dress appropriately for my photo sessions. Most of the time though, I can wear comfortable clothes to work.
-I can choose my own prices. I get to choose how much I want to charge for my services. I don’t have to wait for a yearly raise.
-I can choose where I want to work. If I want to work in a coffee shop, from my living room, or take it with me when I go somewhere, I can.
-You have the time and mental capacity to work towards your passion and dreams. Every day I was working my 9-5 job, I would think of what I could be doing instead to work towards my business. When you are working for someone else, you are helping them build their dream and not yours. When you have your own business, you are able to chase your dreams.
